Formula E: Misano E-Prix Preview
A New Track and 2 Races, Formula E Arrives to Italy

After delivering five thrilling races, Formula E now heads to Italy’s Adriatic Coast and the Misano World Circuit for the first time. Previously, all Italian races were held in Rome, but this year, Formula E has opted for a change. This marks the second doubleheader weekend of Formula E’s 2024 calendar, i.e. rounds 6 and 7.
Track Layout
The Misano World Circuit initially was constructed for motorcycle racing – a regular on the MotoGP and World SBK calendar. There have been various other categories that have raced here as well including Sportscar, Endurance, FIA F3 and F4, etc.
Formula E will be using a slightly modified version of it. It will feature a clockwise layout spanning 3.381km, consisting of 14 turns, several high-speed straights, and a hairpin at turn 7. These elements are poised to deliver exhilarating race action.

5 Races, 5 different winners, 5 different teams
Formula E has till now hosted five action-packed races this season, each featuring a different winner and from a different team. This streak displays the unpredictability and intense competitiveness among the teams. One would hope that this streak will continue at Misano.

Championship Story till Now
After the Tokyo E-Prix, German driver Pascal Wehrlein leads the championship standings with 63 points, closely pursued by Nick Cassidy with 61 points, courtesy of his three-podium streak, sadly interrupted by a retirement in Brazil. Oliver Rowland secures third place with 54 points, because of his continuing three-podium streak. Hanging on Rowland’s heels is Jake Dennis with 53 points, with Maximilian Günther, 48 points, completing the top five.
In the teams’ championship standings, Jaguar leads with a total of 100 points, closely followed by the factory team of Porsche with a 17-point gap. Andretti occupies the third position with 70 points.

Maserati’s Home Race and Jehan Daruvala need to pick up Pace

After an impressive win at Tokyo, Italian manufacturer Maserati will look forward to continuing this momentum and bringing glory to their home turf. Maximilian Günther has been consistently bringing in points and got their first victory of this season at Tokyo.
However, things haven’t been smooth for the Indian rookie Jehan Daruvala at Maserati. He’s yet to score a point. He must elevate his performance for the team to put up a fight in the championship. Despite the setbacks, the team has shown strong support for him, considering it’s his debut season and he is only 5 races in.
“Jehan is on a steep learning curve but he’s making good progress every single weekend. His pace over one lap was strong, and without making an error in his second qualifying run, he could have been in the duels. In race conditions, I think there are still some areas where we can improve”
– Cyril Blais, Chief Engineer, Maserati MSG Racing

Rookies Gear Up for Formula E Test in Misano
Misano will serve as the venue for the official rookie test of Season 10. Each team has to field a rookie who has never participated in a Formula E race weekend. To qualify for the session, drivers must possess either a full E-License or at least a Free Practice-only E-License. Additionally, they must undergo specific training on electrical safety, familiarize themselves with the features of the fully-electric Formula E car, and demonstrate knowledge of the technical and sporting regulations of the championship. Here is the list of rookies participating in the rookie test.

Mahindra’s woes persist
Until Round 4, Mahindra struggled to find the pace, and as a result, they couldn’t score any points. However, in Tokyo, driver Edoardo Mortara delivered a mega lap, securing P3 in qualifying duels. Despite starting on the second row, Mortara lost three positions during the race, finishing P6 and earning Mahindra their first points of the 2024 season. Unfortunately, the joy was short-lived as Mortara was disqualified for energy usage exceeding regulations, while his teammate de Vries had to retire due to an accident in the early stages of the race. The team’s lack of performance is attributed to powertrain issues, particularly energy recovery challenges during races. Despite these woes, hopes are high for a turnaround at Misano.

Schedule of Misano E-Prix Weekend

Formula E Shanghai E-Prix Preview
Formula E heads to China for a double header at the Shanghai International Circuit.

Formula E returns to China’s motorsport capital for Rounds 10 and 11 of Season 11, as the
Shanghai International Circuit prepares to host a double-header weekend on May 31 and June
With the debut of the GEN3 Evo cars on Chinese soil and a field hungry for a championship
points, fans can expect high-speed action, tactical intrigue, and a plethora of drama in one of the world’s most dynamic cities.
The Circuit and What’s at Stake
Shanghai’s 3.051 km West Long Circuit layout, adapted from the iconic Formula 1 track, is a
blend of high-speed straights, sweeping curves, and technical corners. The circuit’s signature
feature is its resemblance to the Chinese character “上” (shang), meaning “superior,” and
includes the famous looping Turns 1 and 2. With 12 corners and a clockwise direction, the
configuration is designed to maximise overtaking and showcase the GEN3 Evo’s enhanced
power and efficiency.

The Attack Mode activation zone is strategically placed on the outside of the long right-hander
at Turn 2, while the return of the PIT BOOST rapid charging feature in Race 1 adds a new layer
of strategy for teams and drivers. Last season’s Shanghai double-header produced a
staggering 410 overtakes, underlining the circuit’s reputation for unpredictable, close-quarters
racing. The 2025 Shanghai E-Prix looks promising at amplifying the action from yesteryear.
China’s Significance in Formula E
Formula E is back in the country where it first bolted into action. China holds a special place in
Formula E history, having hosted the championship’s inaugural race in Beijing back in 2014.
Shanghai is the fourth Chinese city to welcome Formula E, following Beijing, Hong Kong, and
Sanya. Across nine previous races in China, eight different drivers have claimed victory, with
only Sébastien Buemi (Envision Racing) winning twice.
Shanghai E-Prix: Fast Facts
- Circuit: Shanghai International Circuit (West Long layout)
- Length: 3.051 km
- Turns: 12
- Direction: Clockwise
- Attack Mode: Turn 2
- PIT BOOST: Race 1 only
- Notable: Over 400 overtakes in last season’s double-header
The Rolling Rowland
Oliver Rowland’s 2025 campaign has been nothing short of incredible. The Nissan driver enters Shanghai with a massive 77-point lead in the Drivers’ Championship, having won four races,
including Mexico City, Jeddah, Monaco, and Tokyo, as well as a run of podium finishes.
Rowland’s consistency is beyond impressive; he has scored in every race, and his ability to turn difficult situations into big points hauls has discouraged much of the grid.

Rowland’s racecraft and strategic intelligence have been on full display, especially in races
where PIT BOOST and Attack Mode play an important role. His Monaco victory was a
masterclass in energy management and late-race overtaking, but his Tokyo victory
demonstrated his versatility and tactical thinking under pressure. Even despite starting from
lower down the grid, Rowland has consistently sliced through the field, making crucial moves at critical periods.
As the season moves further into its second half, only a miracle can now stop the Yorkshireman from clinching the Drivers Championship.
Major Battles and Storylines
The Nissan Juggernaut
Nissan arrives in Shanghai riding a wave of momentum, leading all three championships after a stellar Tokyo weekend. Oliver Rowland, in particular, has been a force of nature, converting
every opportunity into points and victories. Nissan is the team everyone else is chasing. The
challenge for rivals: can anyone disrupt Rowland’s rhythm on a circuit where he finished fourth last year and where Nissan’s package looks especially strong.

Porsche’s Challenge
TAG Heuer Porsche remains Nissan’s closest challenger, deploying the dual threat of Pascal
Wehrlein and Antonio Felix da Costa. Both drivers have demonstrated race-winning speed and
tactical nous, particularly in energy management and Attack Mode deployment. Shanghai’s return of PIT BOOST could play into Porsche’s hands, as the team is renowned for its strategic
adaptability and has the firepower to capitalise on any Nissan misstep.

Jaguar’s Unexpected Struggles
Once a benchmark for consistency and performance, Jaguar TCS Racing has found itself stuck
in a season of underperformance. Despite Mitch Evans’ early triumph in São Paulo, the team
has failed to extract speed from its Gen3 Evo package, falling behind rivals like Nissan and
Porsche. Nick Cassidy, a title candidate last year, has been open about the team’s challenges,
stating that Jaguar is “locked-in” to certain performance constraints until the Gen4 era comes in two seasons.

Cassidy’s displeasure is palpable, with only a handful of points finishes and a single podium in
Monaco to show for his efforts this season. The Kiwi, who is leaving Jaguar at the conclusion of
the season, has described the situation as “tough,” admitting that only a portion of the team’s
targeted enhancements could be executed and that further changes are doubtful before the
next regulations reset. Evans, too, has struggled to consistently challenge at the front, making
Jaguar’s once-feared “big cat” appears more fragile than ever.
The Midfield and Rise of New Challengers
The midfield is a cauldron of unpredictability, with teams like Envision, Maserati, DS Penske, and NEOM McLaren all locked in a fierce points scramble. Shanghai’s long straights and heavy braking zones offer ample overtaking opportunities, meaning a well-timed Attack Mode or PIT
BOOST could propel a midfield runner into podium or winning contention, as we saw Stoffel
Vandoorne do to claim his first win of the season in Tokyo, Round 8.
Dan Ticktum (Cupra Kiro) and Lucas di Grassi (Lola Yamaha ABT) are emerging as wildcards in
the races. Ticktum’s maiden podium in Tokyo has injected fresh momentum into Cupra Kiro’s
campaign, while di Grassi’s experience and recent top-five finish suggest he could spring a
surprise on Shanghai’s overtaking-friendly layout. Their presence in the leading pack adds
unpredictability to the race weekend.

Mahindra Aims to Bounce Back
After seasons of stagnation, Mahindra Racing has emerged as one of Formula E’s most improved teams for 2025. While the Tokyo E-Prix was a disappointment, giving only eight points despite great grid positions, the Indian team remained third in the Teams’ Championship, proof of their recovery.

The new M11Electro package and the pairing of Edoardo Mortara and Nyck de Vries have produced consistent results, including a podium finish in Monaco. With Shanghai’s quick, technical layout affording new options, Mahindra will be looking to bounce back and turn their season-long promise into another significant result and confirm their standing as a top-three team.

Formula E
Rowland Leads the Charge as Formula E Returns to Tokyo for High-Stakes Double Header
All eyes on Tokyo as Formula E heads East for a season-defining double-header.

Formula E returns to the vibrant streets of Tokyo for Rounds 8 and 9 of Season 11, promising a
double-header weekend packed with high-speed action and some of that Tokyo Drift. As the
championship heads to the Tokyo Street Circuit on May 17-18, teams and drivers alike are
gearing up for a pivotal race weekend in the season.
The Circuit and What’s at Stake
Tokyo’s 2.575-kilometre street circuit is a technical and compact challenge, featuring 18 turns,
three long straights, and complex chicanes. The circuit’s unique character is amplified by
dramatic elevation changes, particularly at the exit of Turn 2, where cars briefly go airborne
before plunging into the next corner. The ATTACK MODE activation zone at Turn 4 and the
introduction of the PIT BOOST rapid charging feature in Saturday’s race promise strategic
intrigue and plenty of overtaking opportunities.

This year’s event also marks the first Tokyo E-Prix to feature the revolutionary GEN3 Evo cars,
delivering more power, greater efficiency, and even closer racing. The sell-out success of last
year’s debut has only heightened anticipation, with fans eager for another thrilling spectacle.
Expectations surge for Rowland at Nissan’s Home
Oliver Rowland arrives at the Tokyo E-Prix as the leader of the Drivers’ World Championship,
carrying both momentum and high expectations for Nissan’s home race. Rowland has been a
standout performer this season, amassing 115 points and securing five podiums in the first
seven races, including a recent victory in Monaco. His affinity for the Tokyo Street Circuit is well established, clinched pole position and finished second in last year’s inaugural Tokyo E-Prix, narrowly missing out on victory but demonstrating Nissan’s competitiveness on home soil. The Yorkshireman has looked comfortable and at home behind the wheel of his Nissan, and he shows no signs of slowing down.

For Nissan, the Tokyo double-header is a golden opportunity to impress at home and close the
gap in the Teams’ Championship, where they trail TAG Heuer Porsche by just seven points. The
Japanese Manufacturer would also be expecting good performance from Norman Nato, who
hasn’t been at the top of his game recently but has definitely shown us his pace in Portland.
Major Battles and Storylines to Watch Out for:
Jaguar’s Redemption Mission
Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy (Jaguar TCS Racing) have had a mixed season. Evans, a race
winner in São Paulo, is 10th in the rankings, while Cassidy, last year’s title challenger, is hoping to rebound from a hard start. Both are experienced street fighters who have the potential to upset Tokyo’s top contenders.
Porsche’s Dual Threat
Porsche’s da Costa and Wehrlein have regularly performed well, with da Costa’s performance
in Mexico City and Wehrlein’s in Miami demonstrating the team’s speed and tactical abilities.
Porsche also leads the Teams’ Championship, narrowly ahead of Nissan, so expect both drivers
to be aiming to extend the lead and convert strong grid positions into race wins, especially after a challenging Monaco E-Prix.
Strategic Intrigue: Pit Boost and Attack Mode
The Tokyo circuit’s tight layout and the introduction of Pit Boost rapid charging add new layers of strategy. Teams must carefully time energy boosts and Attack Mode activations, potentially shaking up the order and opening the door for late-race drama.
The circuit’s notorious elevation changes and narrow chicanes will test even the most
experienced drivers, increasing the likelihood of safety cars and last-lap battles.
Midfield Mayhem and Points Scramble
- Teams like Andretti (Jake Dennis, Nico Müller), Envision (Sébastien Buemi, Robin Frijns), Maserati (Jake Hughes, Stoffel Vandoorne) and NEOM McLaren (Sam Bird, Taylor Barnard) are all fighting for valuable points to move up the Teams’ standings.
- Sebastian Buemi made strides in the Drivers’ championship after a record-breaking 14th Win at the Monaco EPrix.
- Formula E Veteran, Lucas di Grassi (Lola Yamaha ABT) and Youngblood Dan Ticktum(Kiro Race Co) are both capable of springing surprises, especially in unpredictable street races.

Pascal Wehrlein Crowned ABB FIA Formula E World Champion in electrifying London Showdown

The 2024 Formula E season came to an electrifying conclusion with a dramatic finale in London. TAG Heuer Porsches’ Pascal Wehrlein emerged as the new Formula E World Champion.

The 2024 Formula E season came to an electrifying conclusion with a dramatic finale in London. Pascal Wehrlein emerged as the new Formula E World Champion after a nail-biting race that saw him finish second, clinching the title by a narrow margin. Despite a home victory for Oliver Rowland, it was Wehrlein’s strategic prowess and consistent performance throughout the season that secured his championship win.
“Every day, every morning, every evening and every time training I believed in this – I told myself, ‘you can do this’. We executed it perfectly here from the first time we hit the track and were as strong as we’ve ever been – stronger. I’ll celebrate with my team and we’ll properly celebrate tonight and collect those trophies!”
-Pascal Wehrlein
Mitch Evans, representing Jaguar, finished third in the race and second in the overall standings, having missed out on the title due to a late-race strategic error. The thrilling finale also saw Nick Cassidy’s championship hopes dashed following a collision. Sébastien Buemi crossed the finish line in fourth place, followed closely by Antonio Felix da Costa, Jean-Eric Vergne, Nico Müller, Robin Frijns, Stoffel Vandoorne, and Lucas di Grassi, rounding out the top ten. The season finale in London was a testament to the excitement and unpredictability that Formula E consistently delivers, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next season.
Round 15 of the 2024 Formula E Championship: Intense Action at London E-Prix:
The penultimate race of the 2024 Formula E season, held at the ExCeL London, was a gripping affair filled with drama, strategic maneuvers, and pivotal moments. Here’s a detailed look at the key events that unfolded during this thrilling race.
The Start: High Stakes and Early Incidents
Mitch Evans started strong, quickly taking the lead with Sébastien Buemi close behind. Pascal Wehrlein, known for his cautious yet strategic approach, initially took it easy, allowing Norman Nato to push into third. The excitement was palpable right from the start, but it was marred by an early incident involving Jake Dennis and Robin Frijns. Dennis squeezed Frijns into the wall, causing a crash that also collected Sam Bird. This brought out the Porsche Taycan Turbo Safety Car and reshuffled the pack.
Resuming the Race: Attack Modes and Battles
Racing resumed by Lap 5, with drivers strategically activating their Attack Modes. Nick Cassidy’s misstep with the activation sensors caused him to lose precious time. Meanwhile, Oliver Rowland aggressively battled Jean-Eric Vergne, successfully passing him but also getting involved in a tangle with Jake Dennis. This clash resulted in both cars briefly stacking on top of each other, adding to the chaotic mid-race action.
Mid-Race Drama: Rowland vs. Da Costa
The aggressive driving continued as Rowland clashed with Antonio Felix da Costa at the final corner, leading to da Costa’s retirement due to damaged front suspension. Da Costa’s frustration was evident as he labeled Rowland a “sore loser,” marking an end to his streak of three consecutive wins.
Leadership Changes and Energy Management
Buemi managed to pass Evans for the lead on Lap 10 with a smooth move up the start-finish straight. Dennis continued to be a source of on-track friction, clashing with championship leader Cassidy, who struggled with bent steering. Evans and Buemi’s subsequent Attack Mode activations saw Evans regain the lead, but Wehrlein, conserving energy masterfully, soon overtook both to take the lead by Lap 22.
Final Stages: Wehrlein’s Mastery and Heartbreak for Maserati
The final laps were a testament to Wehrlein’s strategic brilliance and composure. Despite Evans’ energy issues, Wehrlein held his ground during their Attack Mode activations, maintaining the lead with defensive driving. A dramatic twist saw Maximilian Günther climb from ninth to second, only for his car to suffer a mechanical problem, dropping him down the order and eventually stopping on track. This disappointment was echoed in the Maserati MSG Racing garage, as Jehan Daruvala also faced issues after a collision with Vergne.
The Finish: Wehrlein’s Victory
Despite the numerous on-track battles and accidents, Pascal Wehrlein kept his cool and secured his third victory of the season. Mitch Evans finished in second, while Sébastien Buemi rounded out the podium in third. The race solidified Wehrlein’s strong position in the championship standings, setting up an exciting final race.
Round 15 of the 2024 Formula E season in London was a showcase of high-stakes racing, strategic depth, and dramatic moments that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Wehrlein’s victory, Evans’ relentless pursuit, and the unfortunate setbacks for Maserati highlighted the unpredictable nature of the sport, making the anticipation for the final race even more intense
The Race 2: Final showdown
Race Start and Early Drama
The race began with Mitch Evans making an impressive start, overtaking Maximilian Günther to create a Jaguar TCS Racing one-two at the front. Nick Cassidy, also driving for Jaguar, led from Evans into Turn 1, with Günther in third and Pascal Wehrlein in fourth. This initial positioning allowed Jaguar to strategize effectively, with both Evans and Cassidy eyeing their ultimate chances for the title.
The field navigated Lap 1 without major incident, but on Lap 2, a collision between Jake Dennis and Edoardo Mortara brought out the Safety Car. The race resumed on Lap 5 with Cassidy leading, followed by Evans and Wehrlein, who had just overtaken Günther to position himself in the top three.
Strategic Moves and Safety Car Interruptions
Cassidy was the first to utilize his mandatory 50kW ATTACK MODE boost on Lap 10, maintaining his lead while Evans held Wehrlein at bay. However, another Safety Car was deployed on Lap 7 due to an incident involving Jehan Daruvala and Sam Bird, which also involved Dan Ticktum and Norman Nato.
Once the race restarted on Lap 10, Cassidy continued to lead from Evans and Wehrlein. On Lap 13, the Jaguar team’s strategy faced a challenge when Evans declared over the radio that “the gloves are off,” indicating his intention to push for the win. Cassidy took his second ATTACK MODE activation, falling behind Wehrlein but retaining a strategic advantage.
Mid-Race Battles and Position Shifts
By Lap 18, Oliver Rowland had climbed from ninth on the grid to fourth, putting pressure on the leading trio. Wehrlein attempted a move on Evans at Turn 1 on Lap 20, but the Jaguar driver defended strongly, maintaining his position. Meanwhile, Antonio Felix da Costa, Wehrlein’s teammate, had moved up to fifth to support Porsche’s bid for the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ titles.
On Lap 24, Wehrlein had a significant energy advantage, with three percent more usable energy than Evans. Despite Evans’ strong defense, Wehrlein’s persistence paid off, positioning him as the provisional leader in the championship standings.
Late-Race Drama and Title Decider
The race took a dramatic turn on Lap 29 when Cassidy’s title hopes ended abruptly after a collision with Günther. Rowland capitalized on the chaos, moving into third as the Safety Car was deployed to recover Günther’s damaged car.
When racing resumed on Lap 31, Rowland led from Evans, Wehrlein, and da Costa. Both Evans and Wehrlein took their first ATTACK MODE activations effectively, with Wehrlein rejoining the track in third. Rowland was instructed to give up the lead for overtaking under the Safety Car, allowing Evans to retake P1 with Rowland and Wehrlein close behind.
Lap 33 saw the final crucial ATTACK MODE activations. Evans missed the loop on his first attempt, dropping to second behind Wehrlein, who executed his activation perfectly. Evans eventually activated his ATTACK MODE but ceded second place to Wehrlein, effectively ending his championship challenge.
The Final Laps
In the closing stages, Wehrlein maintained his composure, leveraging his energy advantage and strategic positioning. Rowland crossed the finish line first, claiming his maiden home victory, while Wehrlein’s second-place finish secured him the 2024 Formula E World Championship title. Evans finished third, reflecting a valiant effort throughout the season but falling short in the final race.
The race concluded with Sébastien Buemi in fourth, followed by da Costa, Jean-Eric Vergne, Nico Müller, Robin Frijns, Stoffel Vandoorne, and Lucas di Grassi, rounding out the top ten.
Jaguar TCS Racing Triumphs in the 2024 Formula E Championship
In a season marked by intense competition and technological prowess, Jaguar TCS Racing emerged victorious, clinching both the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ World Championships in the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E series. This achievement not only highlights the team’s dedication and skill but also marks a historic moment for Jaguar, their first world championship win since 1991.

MANAGING DIRECTOR JLR MOTORSPORT AND JAGUAR TCS RACING TEAM PRINCIPAL
Drivers’ Standings Success
Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy played pivotal roles in Jaguar’s triumph. Evans secured second place overall in the Drivers’ World Championship, demonstrating consistent performance and strategic brilliance. Cassidy, who exhibited exceptional skill by securing pole positions, finished third in the drivers’ standings. Their combined efforts were instrumental in Jaguar’s journey to the top.
Manufacturer’s Trophy
In addition to the Teams’ Championship, Jaguar also won the newly established Manufacturer’s Trophy, scoring an impressive 455 points. This accolade underscores the technological advancements and superior engineering of the Jaguar I-TYPE 6. The lessons learned and technologies developed on the track are set to influence the next generation of Jaguar’s all-electric vehicles, as the brand transitions to an all-electric lineup from 2025.
Historic Achievement
This championship victory is a significant milestone for Jaguar, marking their first World Championship title since winning the World Sportscar Championship in 1991. The achievement is a testament to the team’s hard work, strategic acumen, and the cutting-edge technology embedded in their race cars.
Looking Ahead
Jaguar TCS Racing’s success in the 2024 Formula E season sets a high bar for the future. As the team continues to innovate and push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology, they are poised to remain at the forefront of the sport. The knowledge and experience gained from their racing endeavors will play a crucial role in shaping Jaguar’s future as an all-electric brand.
